of 3 March 1996. Gossip item 'Overheard' includes:
"The first time I set eyes on her, I knew I'd found my God". Said by John Doyle, director of this year's York Mystery Plays, on casting 63 year old Ruth Ford in the leading role.
"I wanted something I could get my teeth into. Actually, I had a strong feeling for Lucifer". Said by Ruth Ford herself. She was a local business woman with a strong record of performance in York amateur productions.
