Christ (Christian Newton), and two thieves (Jorvik Kalicinski, Alex Harker) on their respective crosses during performance of the Crucifixion wagon play in King's Square. The Minster tower is in the background.
It had been hoped that St Sampson Square could be a location for the wagons on 7 and 14 July 2002, but according to a donation of legal and administrative papers to the archive, covering January 2001 to August 2002, the City Council casually pointed out at a late stage that there was to be a Continental Market there, so the route had to be altered. The insurance premium and details were finally concluded on 23 July 2002!
